Russian prosecutors are examining promotional campaigns run between December 2020 and April 2021. Karapetyan advertised automated bookmaker systems through luxury lifestyle posts, earning approximately 85,000 RUB ($1,100 USD) during that timeframe. The financial amount remains modest, yet the legal provisions allow for a custodial sentence of up to ten years.

Detention and Repatriation Process

UAE authorities initially held Karapetyan in September 2023 after receiving an extradition request from the Russian Prosecutor General. Following a three-year detention period, local law enforcement transferred custody to the National Center for Interpol Affairs of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs alongside a Federal Penitentiary Service escort.
